However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
